Terms of use

1. What Codemoot is

Codemoot (codemoot.com) is a community platform for people in tech: discussion rooms, an aggregated news feed and a list of upcoming conferences. It is run independently by its founder. By creating an account or using the site you accept these terms.

2. Your account

You need an account to post. Give us a working email address, pick a strong password, and keep it to yourself. You are responsible for what happens under your account. One account per person; you must be 18 or over to join.

3. Your content and behaviour

Messages you post stay yours. By posting you give Codemoot permission to store and show them to other members. That is what a chat room is.

Keep it legal and keep it decent: no harassment, no hate, no spam, no malware, no posting other people's private information, and nothing you don't have the right to share. We can remove content or accounts that break these rules.

4. Reporting, and what we do about it

Anything on Codemoot can be reported, by members and by people without an account. Content we believe is illegal comes down as soon as we are aware of it. Depending on what we find we may remove content, warn you, suspend you for 1, 7 or 30 days, or close your account. You are told what we did and why, and you can challenge it.

How to report, how long we take and how to appeal are on the reporting and complaints page.

5. Third-party content

The news feed shows headlines and links from Hacker News and Dev.to; the events page lists conferences from the open confs.tech dataset. That content belongs to its authors and lives on their sites. We display it and link to it, nothing more.

6. Availability and changes

Codemoot is provided as-is, without warranties. It is a young service: features will change, and there may be downtime. We may update these terms; meaningful changes will be announced on the site. If you disagree with a change, stop using the service and we will delete your account on request.

7. Leaving

You can stop using Codemoot at any time. Email hello@codemoot.com from your account address and we will delete your account and personal data. See the privacy page for details.

8. Contact
