Reporting and complaints

Reporting something
Every message and every piece of content on Codemoot can be reported by anyone signed in.
- In a room, open the menu on a message and choose Report.
- On a post, community, portfolio, service or review, use the Report link on the item.
- In the NCU space, use the Report link on a person or a notice.
Pick the reason that fits. If what you are reporting is illegal, choose Illegal content and say what it is in the note. Those reports go to the top of the queue.
You do not need an account to report something. Write to hello@codemoot.com or use the form on the about page, and tell us where the content is. We treat a report from someone without an account exactly as we treat one from a member.
What happens next
Reports go to a queue that only moderators can see. The author is never told who reported them.
A moderator can leave the content alone, remove it, warn the member, suspend them for 1, 7 or 30 days, or ban them. Content we believe is illegal comes down as soon as we are aware of it.
You are told the outcome of a report you made. A member whose content is removed is told what was removed and why. Every moderator decision is written to an audit log that cannot be altered after the fact.
If you think we got it wrong
You can challenge any decision we make, whether we acted on your report or acted against you. That includes content removed, a warning, a suspension, a ban, and a decision to leave something up.
Write to hello@codemoot.com with the word Appeal in the subject, within 30 days of being told. Someone reviews it and replies within five working days. If we were wrong we put it back and say so.
Child sexual abuse material
You can also report it directly, and you can do so anonymously, to the Internet Watch Foundation. If a child is in immediate danger, call the police on 999. We report child sexual abuse material we become aware of to the National Crime Agency.
What is not allowed
The rules are in the terms of use: nothing illegal, no harassment, no hate, no spam, no malware, no posting other people's private information, and nothing you do not have the right to share. You must be 18 or over to have an account.
Who is responsible
Codemoot is run by its founder, who is the person accountable for safety on the service and who answers hello@codemoot.com. Codemoot is being registered as a UK limited company; the company number and registered office will appear here the day they are issued.
